Denno is a member of Luke's tribe who lives with them on the North Shores, though he originates from Saint Ninian's Church. He survives the massacre by Daskar's crew because he is gathering berries at the time, and after helping to defeat the Greenhawk corsairs he joins Luke on the pursuit of Goreleech. He is taken captive by the Volcano Island Vermin but rescued by his friends, and while he lives through the Sayna crash at Tall Rocks he is made an oarslave on Daskar's ship. He participates in the plan to trick the stoat Captain into thinking there is treasure back at their caves, and survives the crash at Tall Rocks as he is on the ship's aft. He lives aboard Arfship with the other three survivors (Beau, Dulam, and Vurg) for many seasons until they are all found by Martin's group who bring them to Redwall.
