Dauncey is a young resident of Salamandastron and Galloper in the Long Patrol. He is the twin brother of Kersey, brother-in-law of Ferdimond, and uncle of Dauncey de Mayne. During an ambush by Gulo's horde he charges at them despite Buckworthy's warning to flee, and he is fatally struck in the chest by two arrows. He dies in Wonwill's arms and is carried to Redwall where he is later buried. Kersey ensures his memory lives on by naming her son after him.
