Daucus - a genus of plants in the Apiaceae family - is the Abbot of Redwall who has a ginger bread and appears to be more warlike than past rulers. He is in his middle seasons and exiles Orkwil for one season as punishment for repeated thievery, warning the young hedgehog to not return until the time has expired. When Orkwil reappears with Gorath and the news that Sea Raiders are in the area, he changes his mind and allows him back inside. He enjoys reading and is aware of what a Tabura is, showing Melutar immense respect upon his arrival at Redwall and working with him to save Gorath and some GUOSIM members who are being attacked by the corsairs and Brownrats. He later participates in fighting the vermin alongside Orkwil.
