Darbee is the sensible leader of Redwall moles who greatly admires Axtel. He is friends with Gurjee and works with Granvy to construct a ballista on the battlements to use against the Ravagers, however the moles are afraid of heights and the plan does not work until Ambry steps in to help. Some time later he conceives the idea of dumping a huge mound of soil in front of the main gates so the vermin cannot use a battering ram to get through.
