Damper is a slaver in Slagar's gang who falls asleep when Vitch and the masked fox desert the band near Loamhedge's remains, but wakes up when the former accidentally steps on his paw. He manages to shout out one or two words before being killed by a Blackrobe Rat soldier, and Drynose's discovery of his body the following morning leads to a mutiny.
