Cuthbert is a resident of Salamandastron and Major in the Long Patrol who wields a sabre. He is the father of Petunia and suffers a terrible loss when he discovers her murdered on the mountain's shores, pursing those responsible and killing them all before commandeering their ship (which he names Purloined Petunia). During the gruesome fight he is scarred and loses half an ear, and these combined with his daughter's horrific death he is afflicted by severe mental trauma that eventually grows into Dissociative Identity Disorder. Depending on his mood he portrays at least three different characters in addition to a Major: Cuthbert Frunk W. Bloodpaw (sea otter), Log a Log Boodul (GUOSIM Chieftain), and Lord Brockfang Frunk (hunting badger). He has a waxed mustache, wears a monocle, carries a swagger stick, and will sometimes wear more than one outfit while in multiple personalities. An intelligent hare who is given more freedom than others due to his past, he is often called "Blood'n'guts Blanedale" and "Deathseeker" because he is always reciting gory ballads. He takes Tiria to the mountain fortress and then to Green Isle aboard his ship, conceiving all the battle plans upon arriving on the island. After Felis's death his group runs into Pitru's band on the rim of Deeplough, igniting yet another fight. His eyes shroud over with the dreaded Bloodwrath and he charges at the cats, killing several of them including Pitru despite being severely wounded in the process. When Slothunog attacking he leaps onto the gigantic beast, taking a dead Pitru with him, and kills it; the creature sinks into the lake along with the incredibly brave hare. Mandoral says the Major wouldn't have wanted to go out any other way, and later renames a ship he captures Fearless Frunk in Cuthbert's memory.
