Columbine - a type of flower - is a young resident of Loamhedge who travels to Mossflower with other survivors when the Abbey is plagued by sickness. She is the wife of Gonff, mother of Gonff II, great-grandmother of Bryony, and ancestor of Andio, Bisky, Dandin, the Gonfelin Thieves, and Samolus. She is a skilled cook, quite intelligent, responsible for convincing a nervous Chibb to spy on the Thousand Eye Army (using his love of candied chestnuts to bargain with him), and shows sympathy towards the vermin despite them threatening her home and freedom. She becomes a CORIM member and assists in rescuing a captured Coggs and Ferdy, also sometimes acting as a leader and being trained in archery by Amber. After Tsarmina's death she becomes one of Redwall's first residents, though she later moves to Saint Ninian's Church with Gonff and their son. In Doomwyte it is revealed through her diary that Gonff steals the Great Doomwyte Idol jewels as a gift for her, but she refuses as she says they have witnessed much evil.
