Clerun is originally from Salamandastron until he moves to a small farm located east of Redwall. He is the grandson of Feryn, son of Adarin, older brother of Buckler, husband of Clarinna, son-in-law of Doughty, and father of Calla and Urfa. A peaceful farmer, he dislikes the mountain's strict rules and moves away with Clarinna. As he is the oldest of Adarin's children he is given the family broadsword and Blademaster's Medal, but since he is not a warrior he simply uses them as a tool and decoration. He heroically tries to save his loved ones when Zwilt appears on the farm, and duels with the sable despite being sorely outmatched. Zwilt cruelly tortures and kills him, severely wounds Clarinna, and steals the babes along with the broadsword (which he uses to murder the hare) and medal. His death is eventually avenged by Clarinna when she kills Zwilt with Martin's sword during battle at Redwall, and she is reunited with their children.
