Churk is a young and intelligent resident of Redwall who enjoys solving puzzles. She is the descendant of Deyna, Deyna/Tagg, Filorn, Mhera, and Rillflag, niece of Skipper, and sister of Rumbol. After deciphering the Royal House of Riftgard Script (which turns out to be an alphabet) she uses it to solve a written message from Sarengo that reveals directions to Brockhall's secret entrance. Some time later she joins a group on a trip to the ancient place and finds another message from the late King, and thanks to her solving it they open a secret door. She eventually succeeds Malbun as Abbey Recorder.
