Cheek - so named because he can be quite cheeky - is a young orphan of Mossflower who finds Slagar's abandoned cart and uses it as a shelter until he is discovered by Matthias's group. In exchange for food he tells them what directions the slavers actually went and joins them on their quest, initially annoying Basil with his antics. When the pursuers are trapped in the Wide River by the Longtail Horde he refuses to get off the raft as he is terrified of water, however Orlando tips the raft and he falls into the river. He saves his friends by eating the fish that are tormenting them, and he quickly decides he likes swimming. He participates in the Battle of Malkariss and is later adopted by Basil, changing his name to Cheek Stag Otter.
