Carrul is the old and skinny Abbot of Redwall who, during his Dibbunhood, causes quite the ruckus with Portula; the two are ordered to work in the Kitchen for five days as punishment. In his older seasons he participates in defending his home against Bol's crew and is almost assassinated by Ferron while having his back to an open window, however he is saved when Martha (galvanized by Martin's spirit) takes her first steps and shoves the corsair away. He is later visited by the Warrior who tells him his successor will be the one who carries his sword upon returning home from a quest. That creature is Fenna, but as she is too young to rule he serves as leader for many more seasons until he retires and lives with Phredd in the Gatehouse.
