Byral is a soldier in the Rapscallion army who receives support from at least two other vermin, Borumm and Vendace. He is the son of Gormad and brother of Damug, and as the latter is the Firstblade he is the next possible heir to the title. After their father passes away the two brothers duel to see who will succeed him as leader, and Byral is killed when Damug (who is cheating thanks to help from Lugworm) smashes a boulder onto his head.
