Buteo is a large resident of northeast Mossflower and friends with Garfo. He has gold-and-black eyes, a fawn-coloured tail, and has any travellers answer a riddle as he is extremely protective of his territory. Unfortunately for him, they often pass through as he is not overly intelligent. He is the only member of his species to appear in the series.
