Buff is a sturdy resident of Salamandastron and expert tracker in the Long Patrol. She is quite intelligent, wears a tan-coloured tunic, and the first to spot Greenshroud's wheel marks on the beach outside the mountain fortress. She joins Rake on the trip to strike an alliance with the Rogue Crew Sea Otters and later participates in the Battle at Redwall.
