Brocktree is the fully-grown leader of Mossflower who expertly wields a huge double-pawed and double-hilted great-sword. He is the descendant of Sable Brock, son of Stonepaw, father of Boar, grandfather of Bella, great-grandfather of Sunflash, and great-great-great-great-grandfather of Rawnblade. While he is not the first badger to rule Salamandastron he is considered to be its first true ruler as he is responsible for founding the Long Patrol (main reason) as well as organizing the leveret school, mountain laws, and creating the outside terraces and orchards. After leaving Mossflower his son Boar takes over as leader for the woodlanders, and along with Dotti he travels to Salamandastron as it is being attacked by Trunn. Along the way they gather an army and eventually reach the mountain fortress where he succeeds his late father as Lord, later defeating Trunn in single combat by breaking his spine. As with most badgers he lives for many seasons and, towards the end of his very long life, shares the title of ruler with Boar. After passing away from presumably old age he is dressed in his full armour and buried in a secret chamber alongside mysterious carvings within the mountain's upper regions. Innumerable seasons later he appears in Sunflash's dream, encouraging his great-grandson to travel to Salamandastron and fulfill his destiny, and he also appears with other deceased warriors in a baby Russano's dream.
