Bragoon is an aging resident of Redwall who lives here with his younger brother Toran and best friend Saro. He and the latter head out at a young age to search for adventures, and their names soon become legendary within Mossflower. While not confirmed, it is rumoured that he is once a Skipper. Whenever the pals meet vermin he dresses up as "ferroat" (cross between a ferret and stoat) while Saro steals any provisions. They pull this trick on Burrad's band where Flinky reveals that he has heard of them. Not long after this they return to Redwall where they learn of Martha's mysterious paralysis and a supposed cure at Loamhedge's ancient ruins, so they head back out for another adventure with him carrying Martin's sword on his back. They are eventually joined by Fenna, Horty, and Springald, and together the group travels to the long-destroyed Abbey. Upon arriving and investigating they discover no cure, so as to not disappoint Martha he and Saro write a poem telling the haremaid that resilience and determination will help her walk again. While starting to head back to Redwall, the group is attacked by Kharanjul's soldiers in the Abyss. He gives the sword to Horty and demands he takes the maids and flee, saying that he and Saro will keep the vermin at bay. He receives fatal injuries in the process, though the pals use their remaining strength to push the fallen Lord of Mossflower's trunk into the gorge sending all the vermin to their deaths. He and Saro hold paws while laying on the cliffside as they pass away from their wounds, and he says that he will meet her at the "sunny slopes and quiet streams."
