Bow and Arrows

This projectile weapon - consisting of a long piece of wood with a string tied from one end to the other, with the arrow placed on the string which is then pulled back as far as possible before the user releases it - is used to both attack and defend. The arrows (these can be poisoned, barbed, or set ablaze, or fire hardened) can be launched from a far distance, as shown when Cregga kills Ascrod with one that flies well over the flatlands. Bows can be as tall as its wielder or handheld, and there are three types:

Longbow: the largest and most powerful of the bows, it is more than twice the size of a regular bow but can only be used when the wielder is standing. It also requires a lot of physical strength to use, however it is extremely easy to reload and proves to be deadly against any attackers. Long Patrol members are often experts in using a longbow.

Crossbow: the most accurate bow, it is placed horizontally on a piece of wood with the string pulled back and held by either a trigger or hook. Although it is slow to reload and the arrows not overly fast when fired, they are strong enough to pierce armour.

Shortbow: the smallest and least powerful bow. It is essentially a small longbow and very simple to use, but also possesses the shortest firing range.
