This massive vermin army - so named because soldiers use a special dye to colour their fur blue - is led by Trunn and considered to be the largest horde that has ever reached Salamandastron, arriving at the fortress in many ships. Despite their supposed strength they are notoriously difficult to feed, something the Bark Crew uses to their advantage when they steal their supply lines. Trunn has them perform three tricks to give off certain illusions: make the stars fall (every soldier lights a torch, resulting in a brightness so immense the stars almost vanish), make the sands disappear (the horde lines the beach) and make the earth shake (every soldier jumps up and once simultaneously, sending huge ripples into the sea and a vast rumble in the ground). They are defeated when Brocktree kills Trunn in a final duel.
