Bluddbeak is a huge resident of the Northern Mountains and known to be an adder killer in his young seasons, which is why his good friend Ovus seeks him out when Mossflower is being threatened by the three Brockhall adders. When the two birds return, however, the Redwallers are shocked to find that the kite is ancient and half-blind. He does not listen to their protests and heads off with Ovus to find the snakes, with both fighting heroically and sacrificing their lives in the process. While Ovus is buried by the woodlanders, his body is never recovered. Bluddbeak is one of four kites to appear in the series.
