Bella is a resident of Brockhall and one of the leaders for CORIM. She is the descendant of Sable Brock, great-granddaughter of Stonepaw, granddaughter of Brocktree, daughter of Boar (her mother dies when she is a baby), widow of Barkstripe, mother of Sunflash, and great-great-grandmother of Rawnblade. She lives peacefully with Barkstripe until he is killed fighting Verdauga's army, then Sunflash runs away and she spends many seasons searching for him. Despite her peaceful nature she can be fearsome, plays a big role in defeating the Thousand Eye Army, and helps Germaine to save a severely wounded Martin following his vicious duel with Tsarmina. She later becomes Redwall's first Badger Mother and is ancient by the events of Outcast of Redwall, where she gives Veil his name and assists in banishing him permanently (though she does so with sadness). She is the first creature to be visited by Martin's spirit, passing his message along to Meriam that he will forever protect his fellow Redwallers, and is eventually reunited with Sunflash who stays with her until her death from old age. Bella possesses the longest lifespan of any badger in the series (and presumably the longest of any character) and possibly lives longer than Cregga.
