Bartij is the large Abbey Cellarkeeper, Gardener, and Infirmary assistant who dislikes killing other creatures unless it is necessary. Along with Buckler, Jango, and Ruark, he participates in searching for the missing Dibbuns and helps Jango to track two vermin guards who have escaped Althier with Binta and Thwip. He slays an enemy soldier during the ambush by some vermin led by Zwilt, and later assists in defending his home against the Ravagers.
