Barkjon is an old slave at Marshank where he lives with his son Felldoh (his wife is never mentioned), and he originates from the Northlands. While working in a quarry he is nearly beaten to death by Hisk until Martin intervenes and saves his life. This heroic act, coupled with Felldoh's defiance of Badrang, inspires him and the other prisoners into planning a rebellion. Along with Hillgorse and Keyla he acts as a leader and grows very suspicious of Druwp. He escapes with help from Brome and Keyla, suffers a terrible loss when Felldoh is killed by Badrang's army, and participates in the Battle of Marshank.
