Banya is a fully-grown resident of Green Isle and, along with her brother Runka, member of the Streamdog clan. She is very agile, known for her expert swimming skills, helps Leatho to rescue Chab and Whulky from the fortress pier, and assists in investigating Holt Summerdell. She later joins Kolun and Leatho in freeing the remaining slaves but upon arriving at Felis's fortress she warns her friends that Fleng and eight guards have been following them. When Leatho is captured she returns to the clans with Memsy and tells them what has happened, and suffers a terrible loss when her brother is killed by Yund; she vows revenge but doesn't get it as Yund is slain by Felis. She plays a big role in planning the clans' attacks, later joining the Council of War when Tiria arrives on the island, and during the final battle she commands the Queen's raft that heads out into the middle of the lake. She receives a small wound above one of her eyes during the Battle on Deeplough's Rim and later becomes close friends with Tiria.
