Bane is the tough leader of a vermin band consisting of about sixty mercenaries (mostly foxes and rats with a handful of weasels) and expertly wields a curved sword. He claims to have fought both with and against Verdauga, originates from the Northlands, and leads his group south where he discovers Kotir and instantly wishes to conquer it. In hopes of succeeding in his mission he allies himself with Tsarmina and assists her in the ongoing battle against the CORIM until Brogg tells the wildcat Queen learns he is secretly planning to overthrow her. She encourages him to wear a deserted Ashleg's cloak and convinces him there is something wrong with Kotir's main gate, locking him outside just as he realizes it is a trick. He is spotted by a hungry Argulor who attacks as he think the fox is Ashleg, and Bane slashes at the eagle with his sword before being slain. Injuries sustained by the fox's waving blade, coupled with the disappointment that he has not caught the pine marten, causes Argulor's ancient heart to give out and the two beasts fall dead to the ground below.
