Badrang the Tyrant, Lord
Gender: male
Species: stoat
Appears In: Martin the Warrior
Badrang is the evil Lord of Marshank who commands a large vermin army and possibly originates from the northwestern oceans. He is powerful, vicious, extremely arrogant, distrusts other stoats, and once a lowly corsair sailing alongside Clogg until they get into a fight and part ways. After his ship is scuttled on the Western Coast near where the caves where Luke's tribe lives, he leads his soldiers inland to capture innocent woodlanders including Windred and a young Martin. He steals the famous sword from the latter and, after amassing lots of slaves, leads them to the Eastern Coast where he orders them to construct a fortress he calls Marshank. Many seasons later he demands Martin to be executed after the young mouse almost kills Hisk, and he ties him up between two poles outside the fortress during a wicked storm. The following morning he prepares to witness the mouse being eaten alive by hungry gulls but Martin is rescued by unknown creatures who throw rocks at the birds, and after spotting a familiar ship on the horizon Badrang orders his soldiers back inside the fort. Clogg returns to get his share of the treasure but Badrang refuses and later has Seascarab burned so the corsairs cannot flee. Following this incident the two enemies agree to an uneasy truce, and the Tyrant continues to push his slaves to finish his fort. By this point Martin (whom Badrang seems to have almost forgotten about and doesn't think he is a threat) has escaped along with Brome and Felldoh, with the trio vowing to return to rescue the remaining captives. Thanks to the latter two most are saved during the Rambling Rosehip Player's "performance" and Brome returning to work with Keyla and free the ones who did not escape the first time. At one point he temporarily abandons Marshank to pursue the prisoners, leaving Clogg and his crew to take over the fort, but he quickly gains it back and enslaves his foe as well as convincing the corsairs to join his army. Towards the end of his wicked reign he duels with Felldoh who has returned with a vengeance and challenged him to single combat, beating him with a javelin just like Badrang had done to him in infancy. Unbeknownst to Felldoh, the stoat Tyrant had ordered his vermin to attack if the fight goes wrong and the heroic squirrel is killed (though he takes many soldiers with him) while an injured Badrang scurries back inside his fort. The Fur and Freedom Fighters attack but cannot breach the gates, and he easily keeps them at bay. When Clogg continuously warns him about one day digging a grave for him, Badrang whacks him hard on the head which causes the corsair stoat to become mentally insane. In the final battle he finds himself against a huge army led by Martin, and upon realizing his side is losing he attempts to desert via Grumm's tunnel in the Prison Pit. The mole stops him long enough for Rose to leap onto him and attack with a loaded sling, but Badrang manages to lift her off of him and throw her against a wall resulting in the mousemaid suffering a fatal concussion. Martin catches up to him and the two fight, with the young mouse eventually overpowering his enemy and snatching back his father's sword. Badrang pleas for mercy but it is no use, and he dies instantly when Martin pushes the blade into his heart. His body is left to rot in a gutted Marshank, with Clogg (who has survived the battle by hiding) reappearing to chat with the dead Tyrant.
In the television series, Badrang kidnaps Rose during the final fight and threatens to kill her unless Martin surrenders. The young mouse throws away his weapon but Rose bites Badrang's arm, causing him to drop the famous sword. Before Martin can retrieve it, Badrang grabs it and (off-screen) stabs Rose in presumably the heart. Also, Martin kills Badrang by impaling him with the sword when the stoat Tyrant loses his balance on the edge of the Prison Pit and falls in.
