Auma is a young resident of the Western Plains where she lives with her parents Orlando and Brockrose. After the latter passes away she is left with the former, and they are separated when she is kidnapped by Slagar. Along with Mattimeo she acts as a leader, and she often helps to calm the other prisoners. She is rescued by her father and travels with him to Redwall where they decide to stay, and she is raised by him and Constance. When Orlando leaves for Salamandastron and Constance passes away she becomes Badger Mother.
