Askor is a very large resident of the Land of Ice and Snow where he lives with his father Dramz and brother Gulo. After the latter assassinates the former he steals the fabled Walking Stone and flees aboard a boat, eventually reaching Mossflower where he hides the stone. He suffers a broken back when a huge tree falls onto and traps him during a wicked thunderstorm, and he is later found by Jem and Walt. They offer him assistance but he refuses, instead suggesting that they eat him, then speaks in a riddle that reveals where he has hidden the stone. With his last vestige of strength he manages to lift the trunk slightly before dying, and the woodlander pair cover him with leaf foam. A fox soldier later mentions that Askor - who is considered to be a "grey character" - is kinder to those under his command than his brother.
