Ashleg is a Captain in the Thousand Eye Army who wields a dagger, spear, and sword. He has a wooden leg and wears a very long red cloak with woodpigeon feathers on the trim to hide one side of his disfigured body (it is unknown how this happens). He participates in the fatal poisoning of an ill Verdauga, though it is not mentioned just how involved he really is, and is constantly hunted by Argulor who wants to eat him. Upon realizing that Tsarmina has grown mentally insane and Kotir is no longer a safe place to live, he sheds his cloak and deserts south never to be heard from again. His cloak is later used by Tsarmina to trick Argulor into slaying Bane. Ashleg is one of three pine martens to appear in the series.
