This gigantic gorge, located between Loamhedge and the remainder of the Southern Plateau, is created by many earthquakes ravaging the land. While its actual depth is unknown, it presumably goes to the bottom of the Earth's crust. At one point, creatures construct a bridge that spans it so that others can safely pass over, however Slagar purposely burns the bridge so that Matthias's group cannot follow them. Harry recovers its remains and the woodlanders use their belts as a makeshift zip line to get across. When Malkariss's kingdom is destroyed, the deeper tunnels within the Abyss remain intact and are ruled by Kharanjul's horde during the events of Loamhedge. The fallen Lord of Mossflower is used as a bridge until Bragoon and Saro push it into the gorge along with the vermin army.
